Synopsis:

Meet charming and jobless Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera). A bass guitarist for garage band Sex Bob-omb, the 22-year-old has just met the girl of his dreams…literally. Jacques D’Azur’s heir found

We reported recently how one of the leading lights of the movie world, Jacques D’Azur, had vanished without a trace. This meant that his place at the Cannes Film Festival, held every year in the South of France, would go to his ‘heir’.

Stella Artois 4% held a search for his heir, looking for someone to take his place at the festival and enjoy the sort of week that Jacques always enjoyed himself. Stella Artois 4% found a suitable heir, and as the below video showed he thoroughly enjoyed himself in Jacques’ place.

Jacques’ heir attended the best movie parties, jetted around on speedboats and helicopters, ate at the most exclusive restaurants, received a full tailor service and of course attended the best film premiers, on the red carpet with the stars.

Jacques may be gone, but his legend lived on at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

Cannes movie legend feared dead!

The Cannes Film Festival is just around the corner, but sadly tragedy has struck it before it’s even begun as one of the true legends of Cannes, Jacques D’Azur, is missing and feared dead.

The Internet is awash with rumours and news about what happened to Jacques, and whether he is ‘truly’ dead – such as this story from the Cheese Grater.

Jacques is one of Cannes’ legendary filmmakers and a notorious socialite – but his disappearance isn’t all bad news as he had tickets to this year’s Cannes Film Festival, including entry into all of the premiers and some of the best parties, which are now up for grabs!

Through the Belgian beer maker Stella Artois 4%, you can enter a competition to become the next Jacques D’Azur and win flights to the Cannes Film Festival, hotel accommodation for the duration of the festival, entry into all of the star-studded premiers, access to the awards show itself and best of all: entry to the star filled parties.

FACTOIDS

· First-time author Robert Venditti came up with the unique premise while working at Top Shelf Publications in their shipping warehouse in suburban Atlanta.

· “SURROGATES” was filmed on location in Massachusetts, primarily in Boston and surrounding suburbs.

· In addition to mounting the film in several neighborhoods around Boston—the Leather District, the Financial District, the South End, Chestnut Hill, and the home of his alma mater, Cambridge, among them—director Jonathan Mostow also filmed in such Boston suburbs as Worcester, Taunton and Hopedale.

· Studies led the film’s scripters to a Japanese scientist named Hiroshi Ishiguro, who has been using a plastic version of himself to lecture around the world without leaving his Osaka office. They also uncovered a rhesus monkey in North Carolina that has been wired to make a robot in Kyoto walk, merely by thinking.

· The actual robotic look of the main cast and hundreds of extras appearing in the film came to life through the combined efforts of the film’s two makeup departments—the key makeup under the guidance of Oscar®-winner Jeff Dawn (“Terminator 2: Judgment Day”), and the special prosthetic designs courtesy of another Oscar winner, Berger (“The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe”).

· Some of Howard Berger’s unique designs included the crucified corpse of the surrogate Greer after it’s destroyed; shotgun wounds that graphically reveal the mechanical innards of the robotic doubles.

· Director Jonathan Mostow directed “Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines,” starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, which earned $450 million in global receipts in the continuation of one of Hollywood’s most fruitful franchises.

· The Surrogates Blu-ray contains the DVD extras plus exclusive bonus features that go into the heart of the film’s intriguing premise: A More Perfect You: The Science of Surrogates, Breaking the Frame: A Graphic Novel Comes to Life, and Four Deleted Scenes

· In addition to his film and television work, director Jonathan Mostow also recently created, for Virgin Comics, The Megas, a four-issue graphic novel series set in an alternative reality, in which the United States is ruled by a monarchy.

Mamma Mia! becomes the biggest selling DVD ever!

Mamma Mia! has become the biggest selling DVD ever in the UK, outselling the previous record holder ‘Pirates of The Caribbean: The Curse of The Black Pearl’. It’s also the fastest selling DVD ever, selling quicker than Titanic.

After being released just before Christmas, the DVD was selling out everywhere as mothers and grandmothers found themselves opening their presents on Christmas morning to discover Mamma Mia! staring them in the face.

In addition to its sales success, the movie is also the most successful British film in the box office, ever.

The DVD has sold over 5 million copies, meaning one in four houses in the UK have a copy. The closest DVD to Mamma Mia in terms of sales this year was The Dark Knight, which sold 1.5 million copies.

The top five DVDs ever in the UK are:

2 Pirates of The Caribbean: The Curse of The Black Pearl (pictured)

Maybe one of the reasons for the success of the DVD has been its availability, when considering that theatre tickets for the stage show are very hard to come by. If you can’t get to London to see the show, you can easily buy the DVD in any supermarket.

Everything Mamma Mia! related seems to be selling well, with the soundtrack for the movie being the biggest selling compilation CD of the year.

Rob Zombie’s Halloween comes to DVD

This new Rob Zombie directed film will be available to own from the 18th December in seperate 2-disc rated, and 2-disc unrated editions. The director’s cut will contain around 11 minutes of additional footage. Each DVD will include an audio commentary by writer/director Rob Zombie, an alternate ending, 17 deleted scenes with optional director commentary, a Re-Imagining Halloween documentary, a Conversation With Rob Zombie featurette, a Meet the Cast featurette, screen tests, bloopers, and more.
