Confused? Fear not, all will be explained. Film director DJ Coruso, responsible for the horror/thriller ‘Disturbia’, with Shia LaBeouf, is directing this social film with the backing of technology giants Toshiba and Intel. The film itself is a new genre all of its own, and will utilise Hollywood techniques with cutting edge technology to create a ‘live’ film experience where other cast members, possibly you, can participate over the Internet via the medium of social media.

By using social media websites such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube you others will be able to assist lead actress Emmy Rossum in her battle for survival, as she has only her laptop and an Internet connection to help her survive.

Alberta Cross’ track ‘Money for the Weekend’ has been shot as a vodka commercial for the Internet, and has been directed by David O. Russell, an acclaimed film director who was responsible for recent Mark Wahlberg hit ‘The Fighter’, and Wahlberg and George Clooney star vehicle ‘Three Kings’.

This particular video sees the band, Alberta Cross, playing an intimate gig for close friends in the basement of a nightclub, spurred on by some Ketel One vodka. The ads are showing on US TV in 30 second spots, and a fuller version can be seen below, and on the Facebook Page of the band. The below video already has over 200,000 views on YouTube, despite only being added a short number of weeks ago.

Petter Ericson Stakee, the lead singer of Alberta Cross, commented about the band’s deal with Ketel One:

“Ketel One has always been one of our top drink choices on the road, so it’s fantastic to feel the mutual love.”

The adverts, featuring Alberta Cross, are part of Ketel One’s current campaign of adverts to roll out across the US featuring the slogan “Gentlemen, This is Vodka”.

Alberta Cross’ new album, from which the single ‘Money for the Weekend’ is taken, is being released shortly as part of the vodka brand campaign.

Using the Internet and music to advertise brands such as Ketel One is a great idea as it gets around many of the restrictions faced by TV advertising across the world, in particular here in the UK where alcohol advertising on TV is very closely monitored.

Mr T, the real life comic book hero, is having his animated series released on DVD by Warner Brothers. You know you want it because if you don’t, pain is predicted.

This week we at WhatDVD.Net travelled down to London, to the Soho Hotel, for a Q&A with Stephen Merchant and Ricky Gervais ahead of the DVD and Blu-Ray release of their feature film on August 30th, Cemetery Junction.

As is the case with most film screenings and Q&A sessions, everyone was liberally liquored up before hand to ensure that people were in the right spirits to ask questions, and that any answers given were taken in the right way. Ricky and Stephen even found the time to sign some pictures and DVDs that were left on their table (despite the explicit nature of one of the requests, which you’ll hear in the podcast).

During the Q&A the pair were asked the usual questions of what sorts of films inspired them to make Cemetery Junction and what projects would they be working on again, as well as the not so usual questions of whether Ricky receiving a bike for his birthday as a child was something of an extravagant present for someone living in the part of Reading where he resided. As it turned out it would have been extravagant, had he received one, but the person asking the question was in error.
